I absolutely love when my brand sessions end up feeling more like hanging out with an old friend than working with a client… and maybe that’s why I love photographing other small business owners so much, because that is almost always how I walk away feeling!! Kelly was no exception… from the moment we met up at the adorable Melange Creperie at Heights Mercantile, we were talking, laughing & having way too much fun!

Kelly is an incredible marketing strategist who uses the Story Brand method, and y’all, let me tell you… she knows her stuff!!! I was so honored to get to photograph her as she prepped to rebrand, and I couldn’t be more in love with how her images turned out!

Kelly shared with me the heart behind her decision to rebrand under a more personal, meaningful business name, and if the motherhood + faith-based reasons behind the name Bird + Hyssop didn’t make me fall in love with this woman, the explanation behind this beautiful piece of personalized jewelry sure did. A big part of her heart & the mission driving what Kelly does is in Lusaka, Zambia, and I love how not only does Kelly work really hard for her own family, but for making the world a better place.

In my brand sessions, I love when my clients bring a mix of polished, professional clothing AND some more laid-back, casual wardrobe choices when that is something that fits their brand. As entrepreneurs, most of us have those days where it’s a jeans/yoga pants & just get things done kinda day, and having a touch of that to round out your brand images on your website/social media feed is so great! So so relatable.

Another tip I love to give my clients is to bring a mix of easily changeable wardrobe options (think coats/sweaters/scarves) that you can throw on to make your images stretch through multiple seasons! I kinda wanted to steal this coat from you, Kelly! So cute!
