With the light pouring in from a wall of windows, Zach & Lauren snuggled their sweet baby girl. Big brother Caleb napped in his room toward the front of the house, worn out from the excitement of showing off his new sister & helping me carry in my baskets, blankets & wraps. In the sweet stillness of the moment, the soft sounds of friendship & laughter drifted in from the kitchen.
You see, these parents of two, in those dazed days of the newest of newborn stages & the height of toddler energy, they were opening up their home (& their BBQ) to host a birthday celebration for a friend. It’s clear to me by how Caleb offered right away to come with me to bring in my gear & props, that these two sweet kids are going to have that same warm, loving, generous, loyal heart that their parents have. And getting to spend time with a family like that? It’s a gift.

I have a similar image of Pumpkin and I framed in my office, and it is one of my favorites. So much time is spent in those early days just like this, and I love having that instant reminder of how it felt to have the little weight of her pressing into my shoulder & the softness of her little head on my cheek!
And you know this Red Raider was loving this set up!!! So fun to use the same blanket we used during Caleb’s newborn portraits… with the addition of the cutest headband of course!
