Think about some of the major brands that have a ton of recognition and awareness:
- Pepsi
- Nike
- Neutrogena
- Calvin Klein
- Covergirl
- Capital One
What’s the one thing they have in common? They hire celebrities to be the “face” of their brand.
So does that mean I’m expecting you to be able to get a famous person to be the face of your brand or you won’t be successful? NO!
What it DOES mean, is that you need a face for your brand. And that face should be yours.
Now don’t get me wrong – I’m a photographer for a reason, and I’m much more comfortable behind the camera than I am in front of it. But take a look at my Instagram feed – I am IN it. Not just my voice through the captions, but my face is literally in my feed. Why?
Because having an actual person to relate with a business helps build trust. And trust is what leads to you getting hired or making sales. You have to work your rear end off to create a product or service worth paying for, but when that’s combined with people feeling like they know & trust you – BOOM. That’s when loyalty is built and people are so much more willing to hand over their hard-earned money!
Even in my own business, the stats on my posts prove the point: personal posts with myself (or especially myself with my girls) have much higher engagement than posts that don’t have us. Does that mean people don’t like seeing my work? No. Does that mean that I would never book a session again if I stopped putting myself in my feed? No. But it does mean that people really desire connection with the person behind the business, not just the business.
So take a cue from these crazy-successful brands (& my own unofficial research findings), and step into your role as the face of your business. I promise it will be worth it!
If you’re ready to become the face of your brand and want to have fun & feel great in the process, let me know! I’d love to help you get images you’re proud to share & have a blast during your session too!
