Life has been running at a CRAZY pace lately (not that it’s anything new…), and somehow things worked out for Max and I to head out of Kingwood for 32 hours to spend some kid-free time in Galveston.
We grabbed some delicious Margherita pizza & a salad from Mario’s (my FAVORITE), took an hour long walk along the beach enjoying the sunshine we didn’t think we’d get as rain was forecasted for the whole weekend. We watched the last of the Olympics, went to dinner at Nate’s West End, and I introduced Max to Sequence, which he pretty quickly got hooked on… We had our coffee out on the porch listening to the waves, & got a little work done too. We went for a 3 mile run (let’s be honest, we switched on and off walking & running, but it was still 3 miles on the sand & half of that was running, so this out-of-shape mama is calling it a WIN!), then enjoyed brunch out on the porch. We lounged & watched TV, grilled up some lunch, got to go to mass without distractions & just took a little time to breathe.
It wasn’t a super glamorous weekend full of big, exciting moments, but it. was. perfect.
We got to just spend time together without refereeing fights between the girls. We talked about life stuff, we laughed a lot (especially at how intense Max got on Sunday when I repeatedly beat him at Sequence), slept in, and embraced a slower pace with no plans.
I know this won’t be an option for us often, but I am so thankful for this past weekend to relax and reset. And coming home to those two little girls saying “I miiiiiiissed yooooou!!!”? That was pretty sweet too.
