Here’s the recap of last month’s movie lineup…

His Pick:

Iron Man 3

Max went for the third Iron Man movie for his pick this month. I think this may have been the first Iron Man movie I’ve watched all in one sitting… I liked it for the most part. The Marvel movies are always just a bit too sci-fi for my taste but it was still very entertaining. Ben Kingsley was probably my favorite part of this movie though. Too good. Max’s verdict: not his favorite Iron Man movie, but it was worth the investment to rent from Redbox.

My Pick:

This was one that I remember thinking would be a good Redbox or Netflix watch (yes, I’m cheap. Get over it.). It was a little slow at times, but I loved the story – especially the connection between Jackie & Rachel Robinson. I was also surprised by how many familiar faces were in the cast. Definitely not a light topic, but the story is most definitely a good one.

Our Pick:

Lone Survivor

This was another somewhat “cheat” movie, as Max had already seen it. He enjoyed the movie a lot the first time he watched it, and he’s been mentioning for months that I need to see it. This story is just amazing and it is told very well. Some scenes were really hard for me to watch (as they should be – these men have to live through these stories, we should at least have the decency to try to mentally put ourselves there to appreciate even more what they do for us each and every day). There were so many times throughout the movie that I just kept thinking “These men are superhuman. It’s amazing that the human body can withstand all of that. These men are seriously superhuman!” Of course, the ending had me in tears – if you’ve seen it, you know what I’m talking about. All in all, I’m so glad we chose to bend the rules for this one.
